NOTES: Catalogued 8/96, DZ. Title and date from portfolio colophon. "Harold Edgerton: Ten Dye Transfer Photographs was produced between 1984 and 1990. The edition was initially planned as 100, published as 300, and finally modified to 150. Additionally, 26 lettered sets (A-Z) were produced for the artist and publisher and 30 Special Edition sets were produced for the investors who funded the project (SE 1 - SE 30 and identified by recto signatures on each print). This project was interrupted by Edgerton's death at 86. Some prints of Moscow Circus, 1963 and Diver, 1955 were not signed by Edgerton. Additionally a few copies of Diver, 1955 were produced later from the original matrices under the supervision of his printer and editor, Gus Kayafas." [Kayafas, December 1995] "This startling image first illustrated a lecture by Edgerton entitled, 'How to Make Applesauce at MIT.' Moments after it is pierced by the .30 caliber bullet, the apple disintegrates completely. What is so surprising is that the entry of the supersonic bullet is as visually explosive as the exit." [--Stopping Time--, p. 126] Alternate title from --Stopping Time--.
