plates of the present work are impressed by the agency of Light alone
without any aid whatever from the artist's pencil. They are the sun-
pictures themselves, and not, as some persons have imagined,
engravings in imitation".
"He (Talbot) was there (Scotland) in October 1844 to make the pictures
- a relatively short trip in poor weather with himself in bad health -
