of twenty-five photomechanically produced pictures of Chartres (in
Thiel's 'encre grasse' process) made from Le Secq's paper negatives
of 1852 and undoubtedly printed under his direction." [Janet Buerger,

Luis Nadeau's "Encyclopedia of Printing, Photographic, and
Photomechanical Processes" defines Thiel's encre grass (greasy ink)
process as a form of photolithography.
