Daguerre (1787-1851), discovered the daguerreotype process. verso- in writing: "An enamelled original by Mathieu-Desroches also exists at the Societe Francaise de Photographie" "Daguerre. This portrait was done by Sabatier-Blot, His friend, in 1844" "Rare portrait of Daguerre in daguerreotype. Photographic collection of Gabriel Cromer" "Writing of my grandfather Jean Baptiste Sabatier Blot, (signature) Libert, born Laisné" "Original reproduced in heliogravure [only the head] by the 'Daguerre Committee' for the monument of Cormeilles-en-Parisis in 1883; probably the oldest portrait of Daguerre in daguerreotype, on a plate at first, thick and non-beveled;in any case his only dated portrait; Daguerre was 57 years old." "Acquired by the granddaughter of Sabatier-Blot, Madame Libert, daughter of Victor Laisné, photographer, married to the daughter of Sabatier-Blot, daughter of which I have two portraits of childhood taken in daguerreotype by her father."
