INSCRIPTION: recto-(in pencil in French) "The marvels of photographie (?) Silhouettes on paper of silver salts."

NOTES: Catalogued 12-97, AHF. Circa 1780, Professor Charles captured the silhouettes of people and objects on photo-sensitive paper. However he did not have the means to fix the images. See Tissandier's Histoire de la Photographie for a complete account of his experiment.
