Physionotrace, a method for multiple printing of profile pictures.
Invented by Chretien in 1786, the machine employed a mechanical
linkage by that which a stylus moved over a profile cast on a glass
plate and an engraving tool acting on a copper plate was inked and
printed in quantity.
