INSCRIPTION: recto -- (letterpress) publisher's logo. recto -- (stripped-in caption) title with negative information, and photographer and original publisher (Bierstadt Bros.) credits.

FRAME: yellow mount with round corners

NOTES: The print was made from two negatives taken Sept. 15 and Nov. 13, 1864. Two negatives were commonly used to obtain "sufficient change in position to achieve the effect of rotundity." The view was published no earlier than 1866, as S.F. Adams succeeded the Bierstadt Bros. in that year. Cataloged 3/86, GD.
