American (b. Berlin, Germany, 1893-1974)

Considered one of the superb stage actors of her generation, Cornell played many diverse roles. She made her New York debut in 1916, and received international popularity after her performances in the plays, Dishonored Lady (1924), The Green Hat (1925), The Letter (1927), and The Age of Innocence (1928).
