Jascha Heifetz, violinist
American (b. Vilinius, Russia, 1899-1987)
Heifetz, one of the most gifted violinists in the history of music, had performed publicly by 1904. He received recognition from distinguished musicians and played in Russia, Germany, Austria and Scandinavia before debuting in the United States at Carnegie Hall in 1917. With an international reputation, Heifetz toured the world, performing classical and modern music.
