Joan Crawford, actor, born Lucille Fay Le Sueur
American (b. San Antonio, Texas, 1904-1977)
The glamorous actor personified a woman of the times on (and off) the screen. Billed as Billie Cassin, Crawford established her career dancing in chorus lines and nightclubs. After she signed with MGM in the 1920s, her screen name was chosen through a nationwide publicity campaign. Crawford's films include Tramp Tramp Tramp (1926), Grand Hotel (1932) and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962). She received an Academy Award for her performance in Mildred Pierce (1945).
