INSCRIPTION:
verso-(printed label) "The magnificent Medinilla (Medinilla magnifica)
This very beautiful stove-plant was imported a few years since from
Manilla, by the eminent nurserymen Messrs. Veitch and Son, and has
been cultivated in the hothouses at Exeter. It was exhibited by them
at the early spring meeting of the London Horticultural Society in
1850, when a Large Silver medal was awarded to it. Described and
figured by Dr. Lindley and Paxton in their 'Flower Garden' (pl.12),
and by Sir W.J. Hooker in Curtis's 'Botanical Magazine' (pl. 4533)"
