"An English Company, Kinora Ltd, revived the flip-book idea introduced
in the earlier Lumière apparatus of the same name, in a form
particularly suited to the home. The Kinora system won a silver medal
on its introduction at the Franco-British Exhibition at the White City
in London in 1908. As well as providing flip-book reels printed from
professionally shot films, Kinora Ltd supplied a camera in which rolls
of 1-inch (25.4mm) paper or celluloid could be exposed by the
amateur. The exposed negative films were processed and printed by
Kinora and made into reels which were available in a number of forms
for the Kinora viewers, from very cheap, basic hand-turned models to
elaborate versions mounted on ornate pedestals and driven by
clockwork. The Kinora system remained on the market for some years
and enjoyed a modest success." (Coe, 1981).
