Animation viewer similar to Mutoscope; Polished mahogany body; crank
mounted on right side. door on left side for access to mechanism/reel
change; front has "spout-like" viewing hood; small plate on side with
image depicting a woman in toga and using the theoscope.
Viewer has belt and images in it; each card is 4.5 X 3.5 cm; each card
has an image on either side for two seperate "shows".
Dimensions: 26.6 cm H X 13.0 cm W X 46.6 cm L

similar to mutoscope, except cards are placed on a belt, not a wheel
This would produce a better motion effect. Cards would fall into
place, instead of coming to a stop such as the Mutoscope cards. This
would also create less wear on the cards
.
Originally described by W.K.L. Dickson, but finally invented by
Theophile Lacroix in 1901, for whom it is named
