NOTES:
"Nikon's first autofocus SLR, introduced at October 1982 Photokina.
Historically, this camera fits between early "experimental" autofocus
SLRs from other makers and the first "standardized" Nikon autofocus
camera, the 1986 N2020. F3AF is "modern" in its use of TTL rather than
external focus measurement, and phase detection rather than contrast
detection. However, its use of in-lens motors groups it with the ear-
lier types, making it incompatible with standard Nikon AF lenses.
Electronic focusing system uses DX-1 autofocus finder (the world's
first interchangeable autofocus finder) and dedicated lenses. DX-1
finder can be used as a focusing aid on F3 and F3HP, but not for auto-
focusing. Likewise, F3AF gives finder-aided focusing for manual focus
lenses. Dedicated lenses such as 80mm f2.8 and 200mm f3.5 incorporate
tiny motors receiving signals and electronic power from the finder."
