NOTES: Catalogued 9/2001, DZ. "By using the very basic and primative photogram, Burchfield creates an ominous sense of being below the event. Even though the objects - newspapres, fallen toy soldiers, etc. - appear actual size, they seem less real than the center photograph produced by a camera several feet above. The level of information offered in the completed image parallel the viewers' distance from the reaction to the news event. They urge us to get behind the words, to understand the significance, perhaps to dismiss the information as presented as unbelievable." [Marianne Fulton, 1982]
