"The Vest Pocket Monroe was one of the earliest of the 'vest pocket'
type of miniature plate-cameras, predating the Gaumont 'Block-Notes'
by 6 years. Its thin 1/8 in. double-plate holder made of sheet brass
aided greatly in keeping the camera's weight to a minimum. The brass
scissors-type extension arms allowed this very compact camera to open
to a length of 4 1/2 in." (Lothrop, 1973).
