"c1964. A totally new Pentax, the first with through-the-lens exposure
metering. Named 'Spotmatic' because the prototype had spot meter, but
production versions have averaging meter. Two CdS cells read light
from ground glass focusing screen. Directly coupled to shutter & film
speed setting. Photo-electrically coupled to lens diaphram (stop-down
metering). New self-timer. Early versions of both Asahi and Honeywell
models have a narrow meter switch; later ones have a wider switch.
Standard lens is the new Super Takumar f1.4/50mm. Also sold with
f1.8/55mm lens. FP shutter B, 1-1000." McKeown, 1994.
