NOTES: Catalogued 7/90, MMC. Photograph originally bound in album. James Ballantine (1808-1877). Ballantine was an author and stained glass artist. Dr. George Bell was one of the founders of "ragged schools" and Commissioner in Lunacy. The calotype is also known as "Edinburgh Ale".
