INSCRIPTION: mount recto-(signed in pencil) "Imogen Cunningham" separate matt verso-(in black ink) "Innards of Henry Cowell's Rhythmicon [underlined] (the rheostat, etc.) This was an instrument devised by H.C. using the electric eye to produce several simultaneous rhythms [sic] - 5 against 3 against 11 to the measure, for instance. It was built to his specifications by Leon Theremis in 1931. Photo by Imogene [sic] Cunningham, California"
