NOTES:
  Fruit wood sliding box camera with fixed base. Originally purchased
  by Dr. Sammuel A. Bemis, a dentist from Boston, April 15, 1840 from
  François Gouraud, Daguerre's agent in the U.S. GEH collection has
  complete outfit which consists of camera, ground glass, plate holder,
  fuming box, iodizing box, plate box (2), lens, correcting prism,
  spirit lamp & holder, and traveling trunk. Outfit is thought to be the
  first example of Giroux type camera purchased in the U.S.
