NOTES: Catalogued 10/87, DZ. Title from --Tina Modotti: A Fragile Life--. "Modotti sent many of her Tehuantepec photographs to Weston in the fall of 1929 for an exhibition he was organizing. In a letter to him dated September 17, 1929, she refers to the unsatisfactory condition of the images and the difficulties inherent in photographing her subjects: 'I am sending you a few of the snapshots done in T[ehuantepec]. forgive me but I am just sending you from the ones I happen to have duplicates on hand, same condition as the ones I am sending you, either messy or moved, all the exposures had to be done in such a hurry, as soon as they saw me with the camera the women would automatically increase their speed of walking; and they walk swiftly bu nature.'"
