INSCRIPTION: (no inscriptions)

NOTES: Catalogued 10/87, DZ. "During her travels through Oaxaca, Modotti also photographed in the town of Juchitán. In this photograph of a fiesta, her recent assimilation of a snapshot aesthetic is in full evidence. Here she records the energetic scene before her, the bustling of the crowd caught up in the day's celebration. This photograph also contains figures of men, who do not appear in the majority of her photographs taken while in Oaxaca. Throughout the trip, as in Tehuantepec, she focuses primarily on women and the daily activitied of their lives." [Therese Mulligan, 1/97] Published title and date from --Tina Modotti: Photographs--.
