Eastman, George DESCRIPTIVE TITLE:
Studebaker wagon and gear in carriage house
ca. 1909
NOTES:
Cataloged 6/89, DZ, SB, GD.
"Vehicles and gear were carefully tested and photographed at home
before they were taken on the road. The horse-drawn Studebaker wagon
was packed at 900 East Avenue just as it would be when used in the
wilds of western America. To preclude disasters, thermal cup and
plates were designed, tents were set up, bakers and stoves assembled,
and air beds slept in - all before departure.
The herringbone brick of the 1905 carriage house remains - undr the
floor of today's Mees Gallery." [Kathy Connor/Betsy Brayer, 1995]
